Below you can read explanation for each category.
What your poop should look like
Even though it sounds weird, the “perfect poop” is consisted of water (75 %) and solid matter (25%). It is important to mention that solid matter contains: dead bacteria, cholesterol, indigestible food matter and many other fatty substances.
As a matter of fact, appearance of the poop varies from what you have eaten or drunk. Usually the poop is created after 18 to 72 hours and is included the processing and digesting the food. If you have diarrhea, it means that your intestines didn’t extract as much water as they usually should and the poop is processed very quickly. If the process takes longer than 72 hours to process, it comes to constipation but also it may be symptom of other issues.
Stool type 1 – Small, hard lumpy stools
If you have this type of stool be aware that is indication of inflammation of the small intestine. Namely, the lumps of poop are small, solid and abrasive and usually vary from 1 to 2 cm in diameter. Due to the fact they are solid and somewhat scratchy, often are quite painful to pass and in some cases the result of that is anal bleeding.
Stool type 2 – Sausage shaped stools with a cracked surface
This kind of poop indicates constipation and irritable bowel syndrome.
Stool type 3 – Sausage shaped stools with lumps
This type is very similar to type 2. It is actually a quantity of type 1 stool consisted into one stool. It is result of constipation which was remained in the intestinal track for few weeks. This type of poop is very painful and difficult to pass and it is symptom of irritable bowel syndrome.
Stool type 4 – Soft blobs of poop with well defined edges
This kind of poop is considered as the :”perfect poop”. To be more precise, it has a diameter of 1-1,5 centimetres.
Stool type 5 – Sausage shaped stools, soft and smooth
We freely can say that his type is close to perfection. It usually has diameter of 2 centimeters and typically occurs at people who defecate once daily.
STOOL TYPE 6 – FLUFFY STOOLS THAT HAVE RAGGED, TORN, EDGES
It comes to very soft type of stool. It indicates stress but also high blood pressure.
STOOL TYPE 7 – DIARRHEA TYPE-LOOSE
This kind is very similar to the usually diarrhea but in this case it is called paradoxical diarrhea as it occurs in conjunction with constipation, accompanying stool type 1. In most cases it is experienced by childre and elderly people.
Another indicator is the colour of the stool as it also can show many different symptoms. The normal poop is medium/light brown in colour.
Black tar, or bright red coloured stools – indicates that there is bleeding in the GI or anal tracks. This colour sometimes occurs as a result of certain medication.
Very pale brown, gray or white stools – is very odd coloration and in most cases is caused by lack of bile. Still, white stools also can appear as result of taking antacids. It is important to mention that these types of discolored stools sometimes indicate problems like cirrhosis, hepatitis and pancreatic illness.
Yellow coloured stools – mostly indicate gallbladder problem or a giardia infection.
Even though the poop doesn’t smell nice, it still can be worse. The vile smelling stools indicate that there is problem with absorption, Crohn’s disease, Cystic fibrosis, Celiac disease or Pancreatitis.
